On January 29th, at the Washington State Democrats' Reorganization meeting, the Progressive Caucus met for the first time. This was a group of activists made up of members of the Democratic Central Committee who self-identified as Progressive. They elected officers, and began the process to organize themselves into a formal caucus within the Democratic Party.

On February 27th, these officers met with some core members of the PDCW. It was a good meeting, and helped establish a foundation that we can build on.

The next step was to come up with bylaws. A bylaws committee was established for that purpose, and they worked hard to have a draft ready for the April WSDCC meeting.

Read the draft here.

We still have some work to do on this. We need to clarify the role of the Progressive Delegation, and do some research on the bank account question. These sections are in red in the draft. But this gets us started.

At the April 1st meeting, we also finished electing a complete set of officers in accordance with the bylaws draft. Here is a list:

Appointed Positions will be affirmed by vote of the membership at the next Central Committee Meeting.

On April 24th, the Executive Board held a conference call. Read the notes here.

We have created mailing lists for each of the Congressional Districts. The purpose of these lists is to help progressives self-organize within each CD to have an influence on the candidates for the US Congress. You can find the lists on the CD page. The next step is to create lists for each county. With 39 counties, this will take some preparation work.

On May 8th, the Executive Board held a conference call. Read the notes here.

One thing we don't want to do is duplicate efforts that are already under way. If you are part of a progressive group in Washington State and you would like to be part of the PDCW, please let us know.

On May 22nd, the Executive Board held a conference call. Read the notes here.
